One Man's Eyes

I'm an early 30's engineer with delusions of adequacy. From here, I'll share my perspective, usually through words, sometimes through pictures, of the view of the world from one man's eyes.

Rain Rain....

Well, we survived the first day of vacation in spite of a full day of rain that seemed to cover all of central Texas. We didn't get to do some of the things we planned, but we still had a good time. The Blue Bell 100th Anniversary Party was still a lot of fun and most of the area was covered. How can you not have a good time with all the free ice cream you care to eat?
I'm going to get some rest now as the wife has declared that I will be on a mission at midnight to procure the last Harry Potter book for her. We shall see if the weather improves tomorrow.

On the Road Again....

While I see my posting has been pretty sporadic lately, it's about to get even more so. We're heading out of town for vacation, so I don't know how much I'll care to check in on the net.

The last few days of work have been pretty mentally draining. Things are going well, especially after today. But the process of getting there has been pretty taxing. I'm definitely ready for a break. Maybe I'll get ambitious and make some postings during the trip.

Transformers!

I must confess, for the last year, I've not been too hopeful about this movie. The original toys and cartoon were an important part of my childhood and the early stuff (and the previews for that matter) made it look like a nightmare.
But, over the weekend, I heard a lot of good buzz about it from a number of sources that I trust. So, today, the wife and I went to check it out. It certainly wasn't perfect and there are some parts of it that you are better off just not thinking about. However, overall, it was an excellent experience and definitely a recommend. I would rate it as one of the best Summer movies of this season.

The Princess has Returned!

Our daughter is back from her two week stay with her grandparents. It's nice to have her back. It feels like she's been gone a lot longer. I think the Tornado is a bit torn - he's happy she's back, but he's also gotten used to be an "only" child getting undivided attention and no challenges on what cartoons to watch. I imagine it will take everyone a few days to get used to being together again.

Lifeline restored!

We've been dealing with spotty internet access here at the house since the weekend. On Friday I took our modem to the Comcast store for an exchange as it had been flaky most of the week. At the store, the reported the whole area was having trouble, but I went and swapped out anyway.
Well, come Sunday, the connection is spending more time down than up. So, we call in and a tech comes out this afternoon. Turns out, my old modem was crapped....and so was the replacement that I got Friday. The tech checked out everything and the only weak link was the modem. So, swapped out again and all appears well.
On the way out, the tech, who was an experience guy slipped up and thanked us for using Road run...er..Comcast :)
Now, if we can just get Comcast to start shipping those TIVO powered DVRs, life will be great.
